Piano and Music Theory Tuition

Tuition for piano and music theory is given in Dr Michael Spacie’s comfortable home music room at Aston (serving both the Rotherham and Sheffield area). Lessons are an hour in duration with either a weekly or fortnightly frequency. Twenty four hours’ notice is required to cancel a booked lesson. Kindly notify any cancellations by telephone or text or at a prior lesson. Learners do not have to commit to a specific or stated number of music lessons. No money is payable in advance as payment is due at each lesson: by cash or cheque for the introductory lesson and either cash or bank transfer for regular tuition. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch by ‘phone, text or email. Tuition is always tailored to the requirements and aspirations of the individual student and lessons are given on a one-to-one basis.

Please enquire for details of the tuition fee. This is payable at each lesson including the Introductory Lesson.

Requests

Students will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided upon entry to the teaching room. Students have a choice as to whether or not they wish to wear a face mask/face covering. Please place any coats and bags on the wooden chair provided for the same.

Please do not attend a lesson if you feel unwell or have tested positive for Covid.

Cancellations

Twenty four hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel a booked lesson. Should a cancellation not be notified, the full cost of the lesson will be payable. Please note that any cancellation of a booked lesson which gives more than 24 hours’ notice will not incur a cancellation charge.

A cancellation made on the same day that a lesson is due to take place will incur the full lesson fee being payable, likewise a no-show, that is a non-appearance at a booked lesson, will automatically incur the lesson fee. Cancellations due to sudden onset of illness, transport failure, traffic congestion, work, family, or professional commitments, adverse and inclement weather, and all other reasons will incur the lesson fee being charged if the cancellation is made less than 24 hours of the cancelled lesson being scheduled.

The Introductory Lesson

An introductory lesson is easy to arrange. It is offered to prospective students and without obligation to continue with further tuition. The introductory lesson is an important initial step in the decision to pursue tuition. After the introductory lesson, the student will be much better informed as to what is involved.

It is understandable that a prospective student will be somewhat anxious and nervous at an introductory lesson, but as student testimonials indicate on this website, every effort is made to put the student at ease and to help the student realise that learning music can be fun and enjoyable as well as challenging and rewarding.

Enquiries for piano and music theory tuition are always welcome.
