  • “I came to Mike as a complete beginner to learn how to play the piano and to study the theory of music. I have progressed through the grades very quickly and was delighted to achieve 92 per cent on the Grade 8 theory examination. Mike’s teaching was excellent throughout this course, as it was for all the other theory grades. He is highly knowledgeable and makes the work interesting and accessible, also knowing how far to stretch students regarding assigning homework. He gave me a full set of past years’ exam papers to complete so I was thoroughly prepared and had a clear understanding of what to expect in terms of the format of the paper. This helped enormously in terms of helping to calm my nerves and give me the confidence I needed going into the examination. I highly recommend Mike’s teaching and methods of preparing students for examinations.” Dr Suzanne P.
  • “I started piano and music theory lessons with Mike as a nervous adult beginner and am glad I did so. The lessons are interesting and expertly taught; Mike’s skill and knowledge are both excellent. He has a clear understanding of the best way for his students to make progress, sets the right amount of homework, and is patient. As a result, I have made good progress, gaining a distinction in Grade 8 music theory. I am delighted!” Dr Suzanne P.
