In February of 2019 I was in a local music shop admiring the beauty of their pianos, wishfully thinking about how I would love to play. A chance conversation with the sales person and I was provided with Mike’s contact details.
I had convinced myself, following some previous lessons with very little progress not beyond nursery rhymes, that I was too old to learn. However, following a review of the testimonials on Mike’s web page I eventually plucked up the courage to drop him an email. Mike called me later that evening and discussed attending for a no obligation chat and lesson, reluctantly on my part – due to a severe lack of confidence – I agreed!
I have been having lessons with Mike every 2 weeks and my progression and confidence have grown so much that I now dare to believe that one day I will play music that I only ever dreamed of. Mike is an amazing teacher who picks up on your body language and reactions and will constantly adjust and coach you in line with your needs. He is patient and his positive reinforcement is infectious. My lessons are my escapism from everything, 2 hours of quality me time that after a long day at work leaves me energised and excited to learn more.
Music is amazing – how it has the ability to take you through all types of emotions, remind you of people or situations in your life. My lessons have not just taught me to play and read music but a new understanding and appreciation.
