I began studying piano and music theory with Michael as an adult male in my late fifties. I have played guitar previously and had some musical theory knowledge, though both self-taught.

I have studied music theory predominantly to present. Michael’s knowledge and deep understanding of music theory exampled on piano is astounding.

Michael has explained in great detail all the aspects of music theory I wished to explore. These have, as examples, included an exhaustive look at time signatures with examples from musical pieces and improvisations, modulations to different keys with examples as previously and a detailed look at four-part harmony and cadences, again with beautiful examples.

I am now returning to rudimentary piano lessons and again Michael excels as a teacher with close attention to technique, dynamics and tempo.

I regard Michael as ‘top of the tree’ in relation to his profession as a piano and music teacher and would highly recommend Michael to other students.
